On Christ our foundation lies

So, at the beginning of the year, I was going to write everyday. Apparently that didn't happen, but I'm still going to write when I can. Today's writing is going to be rare. Random fact about me: I hate history. I find it extremely boring and repetitive, but since I'm supposed to be studying my history chapter this very minute, I might as well write about it to encourage and end to my procrastination.

On Christ our foundation lies

George Washington once said, "It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible" and that is how this country started--with strong emphasis on God and the Bible. So why have today's politicians strayed so far away from our original foundation? The answer is unknown.

There are so many controversial issues in politics today. Abortion, gay marriage, etc... A large number of people seem to be confused on these issues when the answers are clear and black and white in the Word of God.

Abortion:
"For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother's womb...I am fearfully and wonderfully made." -Psalm 139:13-14

"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, who you have received from God? You are not your own." -1 Corinthians 6:19

Gay Marriage:
"The Lord God said, 'It is not good for man to be alone, I will make a suitable helper for him.'...Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib He had taken out of the man and He brought her to the man...a man will his father and mother and and be united to his wife and they will become one flesh." -Genesis 2:18,22,24

"Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman. That is detestable." -Leviticus 18:22

On almost all of the situations that political figures are confused about today, the answers can be found where God and the Bible are found. God is absolute truth as well a His Word, and our country would be somewhere completely different today if we hadn't lost where our foundations began: in Christ.
